With Flatbed Messenger you can create, rate, and tender a shipment in a few easy steps! This article will cover how to create a shipment on Flatbed Messenger.
To create a shipment:
1. On your left dashboard, click Shipments.
2. On the Shipments page, click
3. Enter Shipment Details:
- Optional: PO Numbers
- Optional: BOL Number
- Optional: SO Number
- Required: Mode
- Required: Equipment
- Optional: Temperature - if the equipment mode is set to Reefer
- Required: Equipment Length
- Optional: Hazmat - only available if the equipment mode is set to LTL
4. Enter Commodity Item(s) Details:
- Optional: Commodity Name
- Required: Pallet Count
- Optional: Stackable
- Optional: Length
- Optional: Width
- Optional: Height
- Required: Weight
Click + ADD ITEM to add up to three additional commodity items.

6. Enter Transport Details:
- Required: Pickup and Delivery Facility Addresses
- Select from an existing facility or
- Click Add a new facility. All new facilities are saved for future use in the Facilities section of Flatbed Messenger. The facility name, address, and hours of operation days are required fields.

- If you have already added Default Facility Notes to an existing facility, those notes will populate here. Enabling the Update button will allow you to create or add to existing Facility Default notes.
- Leaving the button disabled will allow you to add notes for the facility however they will only exist on the shipment being created.
- If you have already added Default Facility Notes to an existing facility, those notes will populate here. Enabling the Update button will allow you to create or add to existing Facility Default notes.
- Optional: Click + ADD STOP to add up to two additional stops between the pickup and delivery facilities.

8. Review the shipment details. If you have confirmed the details are correct and you are ready to quote this shipment, click . This will take you to the quote page where you can book the load.
If you are not yet ready to get a quote, click . The shipment will be available on your shipments page.
9. Quote the shipment from the Shipment List. From the shipment list, click Get Quote.
10. You will be taken to the Quote page, to proceed with the Loadsmart booking, click .
